FAT Match Announcement

Black Creek Steel will hold it annual Friday After Thanksgiving (FAT) Match on Friday, 25 November.

The match will consist of 4 Stages, 140 rounds minimum.

* Registration opens at 0815.
* Mandatory Shooters’ Safety Briefing at 0845.
* Shooting starts at 0900.
* Match scheduled to end at 1300.
* We will be shooting in squads.
* Match fee is $20.

FAT Course of Fire

The Friday After Thanksgiving (FAT) Steel Match is 4 Stages, 140 rounds minimum!!!!!

All start positions are facing downrange, hands relaxed at sides.

Stage 1- Turkey and Dressing- 32 Rounds

Targets:

  • 8 Mini Poppers
  • 1 Texas Star
  • 2 Plate Racks
  • 2 Round Static Steel

Start standing in box with X with pistol in unloaded condition in holster. Place all reloads on barrels as desired.

Upon start signal move to any position, load and engage its respective array. Reloads may be moved to another shooting position but not stored on the shooter’s person. Arrays may be engaged in any order. There are 4 shooting positions on this stage.

From behind White Barrel, engage each Round Static with 1 round each, and the forward plate rack.

From behind the Table, engage each Round Static with 1 round each, and the rear plate rack.

From behind either Blue Barrel, engage either the array with the Texas Star and 3 mini poppers or the array with 8 mini poppers.

From behind the other Blue Barrel, engage the remaining array.

Stage 2- Seconds- 38 rounds

Targets

  • 8 mini poppers
  • 3 rectangular static steel

Start in Box with X. There are 5 shooting positions on this stage.

Engage the 3 Target Static Array with 2 rounds each from each of 5 shooting positions, starting in rear box with X and ending in rear box with X. The 8 mini poppers may be engaged from any box or on the move only between boxes. Any shot taken outside of a shooting box on a mini popper while not moving will incur a 5 second penalty.

Stage 3- Leftovers- 40 rounds

Targets

  • 8 Split US Poppers
  • 1 US Popper
  • 11 Mini Poppers
  • 6 Split Mini Poppers

Start in the center box with X. Engage each array from its respective shooting box in any order. There are 5 shooting positions on this stage.

Stage 4- Nap Time- 30 rounds

Targets:

  • 4 Rectangular Static Steel
  • 10 Mini Poppers
  • 6 Split Mini Poppers

Start outside of shooting area with toes on XXs. Engage each rectangular static target with 2 rounds and the falling steel though the port only.

We are planning on a FULL match this Friday the 25th…After Thanksgiving Day….Jim is Back!!!!!!! 4 stages of all of your favorites!!!! We even got the Texas Star out!!!!  Round count is well over 100…..Details will follow….Get Ready!!!!!!!

4 stages of falling steel….74rnds.total….No weak hand..LOL!!!!!!

We are using a par-time for all of the stages….

Stage 1 Black Powder….8rnds.(Long Range & Precise)
Stage 2 LF Trap…..24rnds.
Stage 3 RL Trap…..28rnds.
Stage 4 Upper Trap Corner…..14rnds.(Strong Hand Only)

All stages start in the “Surrender” position!!!!!!!!

And once again……A Reminder of…..
OUR RULES OF SAFETY!!!!!!!!!!!

Cold Range
•Black Creek is a cold range. No loaded weapons except when under the control of a Range Safety Officer.
•No weapon handling in the parking lot. If you arrive with a hot weapon, immediately see a a Range Safety Officer so that you may be unloaded safely.
•Ammunition may be reloaded into magazines or speedloaders at any place on the range except for the designated Safe Areas.

Safe Areas
•Safe Areas are provided for the safe handling, holstering, stowing, cleaning, repair, inspection, and dry firing of guns. No ammunition handling (including dummy ammunition) is allowed in the Safe Areas.

Personal Protective Equipment
•Safety Glasses
•Hearing Protection
•Footwear- suitable for the terrain, no open-toed footwear.

Dropped Weapons
•During a Course of Fire- Between the “Make Ready” command and the “Range is Clear” command, any dropped weapon will result in Automatic Disqualification. Stop immediately upon the dropping of a weapon and wait for the commands of the Safety Officer. Safety Officer will safely retrieve, unload, and return the weapon into its holster.
•Other than during a Course of Fire- If an unloaded weapon is dropped on the range, do not touch or retrieve it. Call a Safety Officer to safely retrieve and place the weapon in its holster or carrier. Touching of a dropped weapon by any competitor or any other person other than a Safety Officer will result in disqualification of the competitor.

Disqualification
•Negligent Discharge- where any bullet passes over the top of the berm, or impacts the ground within 6 feet of the competitor will result in immediate disqualification.
•180 Degree Violation- where the muzzle is pointed uprange or outside of established muzzle safe points will result in immediate disqualification.
•Sweeping- where the muzzle of any weapon, loaded or unloaded, is pointed at any person including the competitor. Will result in immediate disqualification.
•Finger in Trigger Guard- while loading or unloading, reloading, or moving from one shooting position to another.
